Loomkind ("we") runs loomkind.ca. This page explains what we collect, why, and how long we keep it. Questions: [email protected].
The Online Gap Checker
When you run a check, we receive:
- What you type: the business name, city and website address you enter.
- Public business information we look up: when Google lookups are on, we ask Google's Places API for the matching business's public listing (name, address, website, rating, review count, opening hours, Google Maps link and operating status). As you type a business name, the text is sent to Google to suggest matching businesses.
- Public website checks: our server loads the business's public homepage once to check HTTPS, the mobile viewport tag and server response time, and to look for booking tools, chat tools and links to Instagram, TikTok and Facebook.
- Abuse protection: to limit checks per visitor, we keep a one-way hash of your IP address with a counter for about an hour. We don't store your IP address itself. We may use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots.
Check results are cached for 7 days so repeat checks are fast and don't trigger extra Google lookups, then deleted automatically. The checker doesn't ask for your name, email or phone. Our site sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics or advertising trackers. Cloudflare, which hosts the site, may set a strictly necessary security cookie to block bots and attacks, and the Turnstile check (when it's shown) runs in Cloudflare's own frame.
The free preview form
If you request a preview, we store what you submit (name, email, optional phone, business name, city, website and message), a summary of your latest check score, the time, and a hashed IP address for spam prevention. We use it only to prepare your preview and contact you about it. We don't sell or rent your information. It is stored in Cloudflare's D1 database, is never shown on the website, and can't be read through any public page or API. Ask us to delete it any time at [email protected] and we'll delete it within 30 days; otherwise we delete inactive requests within 24 months.
Who processes data for us
For free preview requests (the form on our home page), two providers handle your details:
- Cloudflare receives the form, runs the Turnstile bot check, and stores your request in its D1 database. It also hosts the site and runs the Gap Checker (Cloudflare Pages, Workers KV and D1). Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
- Google runs our business email (Google Workspace for [email protected]), which we use to reply to your request. When Google lookups are on, it also provides business lookups for the checker through the Places API. Google Privacy Policy.
We don't send preview requests to any other service, and we don't use them for advertising.
These providers may process data outside Canada, including in the United States.
Your rights
Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) you can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or withdraw consent to be contacted. Email [email protected] and we'll respond within 30 days.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS with strict security headers. API keys stay on our servers and are never sent to your browser. Access to stored requests is limited to Loomkind.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above.
